Hey luvlies!!! If you are reading this, it means you have survived the year 2020. Congratulations!!!
Now, why did I say congratulations for making it to a new year? Unless you have been under a rock somewhere you are very well aware that 2020 was arguably the toughest year we’ve faced in a while. 2020 caught us all off guard with some really outlandish events.
We were faced with so many controversies: from the Corona Virus, to Politics, to a very large part of the entertainment industry seemingly losing their minds. Not to mention those of us who lost our loved ones. The essential workers who placed their lives on the line to ensure that our countries stayed afloat. All the new restrictions we were forced to live with. 2020 was a year like no other.
So, again I will say, CONGRATULATIONS!!! For surviving the year that was 2020. I know that a lot of goals went unaccomplished and you might be feeling like you have somehow failed. Let me stop you in your tracks and let you know that surviving 2020 is an entire accomplishment. We went through emotional struggles that none of us was prepared for. The fact that you are alive and well is a major major achievement, therefore be kind to yourself.
I know it’s discouraging to set goals and not achieve them, however, there is plenty of time to do that in 2021. Head back to the drawing board and come up with new strategies to go about getting those goals knocked out.
On the flip side, whereas 2020 was filled with pain, confusion, disappointments, you name it. It was also a year that gave us all the opportunity to do some soul searching. Not being bombarded with work and everyday life activities gave us so much needed time to sit back and reflect. It was as though the universe was handing us a yearlong timeout to step back and access our lives, the relationships we form. Set new goals, dig deeper in ourselves and activate the Kings and Queens that laid dormant for many years. 2020 put a lot of things into perspective for a lot of us.
Personally, I did things last year that I would not have done had it not been for COVID19. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and was happy to see that I was not the only one. I saw quite a few persons doing the same. There were so many new businesses launched, so many persons put their talents on display be it on: Tiktok, Instagram, YouTube: you name it we did it in 2020. I must admit it was quite refreshing to see us raising above all the pain and uncertainty and finding solace in what seemed to be a desolate place.
Which brings me to my next point: No matter how bad a situation is, there is always some good to be found in it. This is no longer just a saying; we have all lived it. Now, all we need to do is apply the lessons learnt in 2020 to the rest of our lives. Be kind, be mindful, work hard, there is room for all of us no matter how saturated a market looks, never give up, you are just as important as the next person. Selfcare is golden, family is everything!! There is a boss inside you that is waiting to be activated. I could go on and on but I think you get the idea.
Luvlies, let this 2021 be the best you have yet to experience. Love, laugh and live unapologetically. You have earned it!! I wish each and every one of you a HAPPY HAPPY New Year filled with joy and happiness.
Live good, walk good!!
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
